Location
Bernwood Forest

click here for a map showing the location of the Forest England car park.

Directions
The M40 is on the Eastern Boundary of the forest and the Forest England's car park is on the west side. The nearest post code (of Corner Farm on the Streetmap image) is OX33 1BJ and the grid reference of the car park is SP611117

To get to the car park involves minor roads and the easiest solution is to use the Post Code of Corner Farm in your Sat Nav. The car park is about 200m North East of the Farm.

If you are thinking of coming from the south and leavimg the M40 at Junction 8 to use the A40 and the B4027 then beware there is no north bound exit off the A40 onto the B4027. You have to go all the way to the A40 interchange on the east side of Oxford and then take the minor road from the interchange to Stanton St John.
At Stanton St John do a right then left to cross the B4027. Go through the village and the follow the road round to the left signed Oakley Brill. Follow Mill Street to the East North East all the way to a bifurcation where you keep left for Oakley Brill. After a couple of km the forest comes up on the right, then the left turn to Corner Farm (which you do not take) and go straight on to the car park on the right in a further 150 metres.

From the north come off the M40 at Junction and turn left to follow the A41 towards Biscester. Just south of Biscester the A41 turns right at a roundabout. Keep on the A41 and don't go into the centre of Bicester.
In about 3km turn right onto the B4011. Follow this for approx 6 km before making a right turn for Boarstall. South of the village, turn left for Honeyburge and Oakley. Cross over the M40 and the car park is a further 1.5km on the left.

The car park is very small Please try to do some car sharing if you can.

In accordance with the informality of the event the organisers will not require you to deposit your receiver in a pound before the transmitters start sending. They do expect you to respect the spirit of this concession by refraining from using your receiver until reporting to officials in the start area and then only under their supervision.
The 'flags'for the competition, located at the site of each transmitter, will be 15cm side length and orange and white in colour.

    Safety

Competitors are responsible for their own safety and take part at their own risk. No smoking in the forest. Whistles should be carried (the emergency signal is 6 blasts repeated at 1 minute intervals).

    Loan Equipment

Receivers for 3.5MHz are available on loan at no extra cost (unless you lose the receiver, when the cost is £60). E-Mail the organiser (address below) to reserve.

    Individual League Table

A League Table will be implemented across all four events. The current standings will be published beside the results for the day.
The key features of this league are as follows:
Points for each event. If 20 people enter an event then the winner gets 20 points and the 20th placed person gets 1 point. The greater the number of participants the greater the points for the winner.
Attendance bonus: There is a 5 point bonus for each event you attend up to a maximum of three events
The final total achieved will be the sum of the best three (out of the four) event totals
There will be a small trophy for the winner and runner-up at the end of the series
