Organiser's Notes

I'd thank all those that turned up and hope they enjoyed the event. The map was a bit of an experiment.
We tend to rely on the orienteers for our maps and I thought it would be liberating to begin to develop our own mapping facility. Perhaps it wouldn't constrain us so much with our choice of land.
No doubt it wasn't to everyone's liking. Limited detail and accuracy called for more concentration to keep located. Perhaps next time I'll include more terrain detail or if I receive more feedback I may have to revert to the more comfortable orienteering map!
I wasn't happy with the layout of the 80m course, I was trying to limit the distance and the slither of land I used didn't make for an exciting run. I'll try harder next time.
I wonder if laying out two courses is too much for the organiser and competitor alike, in retrospect a longer classic and sprint may have suited better.
All good practice though!
Comments, good and bad are well received.
