Terrain
The campus is set in 130 hectares of parkland, with a lake and a mix of open space and wooded areas and has won seven consecutive Green Flag awards, recognising it as one of Britain’s top green spaces. The site is generally flat with a good path network. Buildings vary between the original country estate mansions, old ice house to very modern developments.
Whiteknights is the private property of the University of Reading with a public right of way running from Earley Gate to Shinfield Road. The University reserves the right to prohibit pedestrian access to other areas as necessary. Visitors must adhere to University rules and regulations which are in operation throughout the University’s privately owned land at Whiteknights.
We have kindly been granted permission by the University estates office to use the campus for our training, please respect all out of bounds areas and planted areas and do not jump walls or fences. The campus may be busy with students living on site and local families walking, children cycling, dog walkers, joggers and bird watchers. Please take care especially on corners and pathways to give way to other users.

Clothing
Paths are predominately hard surface manmade – ordinary trainers will be fine, no studs. There are no areas of dense bramble/nettles, gaiters and shin protection is not needed; wear comfortable clothes for light running and walking.

Format of Event
The event will conform to the general principles of IARU events, but will be less formal than a Championship.
There will be 2 courses available. This will be a relaxed event to allow training on semi - urban terrain, with TX distance possibly less than 400m and no 750m start exclusion zones. Participants can do one or both courses. 2m x 5 TX course 80m x 5 TX course. Transmitters MOE...MO5 operating on 5 minute cycles, on air for 1 min each. It is hoped to use I-button timing.
